Boxing Cat Brewery opened in Shanghai in April 2008, one of the first craft breweries in mainland China, founded by American brewmaster Michael Jordan with a mission to bring quality craft beer to a city where watery lagers dominated. Over the years it has become synonymous with Shanghai craft brewing. The Sinan Mansions location in the Former French Concession is the most atmospheric of the brand's Shanghai outposts: a three-floor, renovated colonial building with exposed brick, leather sofas, and outdoor seating along Fuxing Road. The beer list covers the flagship TKO IPA, American Wheat, stouts, and seasonal releases — all brewed in-house. Southern American comfort food anchors the menu: chili, ribs, burgers, and the legendary Blackened Fish Tacos.
