What looks like a sports bar from the outside turns out to be one of Causeway Bay's most serious beer destinations. Rugger's 28 was founded by a group of rugby players and has built a devoted following over the years for its genuinely impressive beer selection — around 80 different options at any one time, with rotating draught lines pouring Hong Kong craft beers alongside British imports and the occasional Guinness that regulars swear is one of the best pints in the city.
The interior is compact and warm, lined with rugby memorabilia and screens showing live sport. It's the kind of bar that's easy to walk into alone and leave having made new friends — the staff are welcoming and the regulars are passionate about their beer. Despite the sports bar trappings, the focus here is unambiguously on the quality of what's in the glass.
Rugger's 28 sits on Yiu Wa Street in Causeway Bay, just a short walk from Exit A of Causeway Bay MTR Station. It's open daily from 4pm and runs to the small hours on weekends, making it a reliable option for post-dinner pints or a late-night session on the Island.
