Beer Hall

Beer Hall opened in SCBD in early 2018, a Biko Group project (the team behind Beer Garden and Lola) that takes its cue from traditional German beer halls. It is big: Manual Jakarta reported seating for 260 and standing room for around 1,000, set under double-height ceilings with arched factory windows, brick, steel and a "BOCK HABEN!!" mural that sets the tone.

Local craft labels and Indonesian staples such as Stark and Bintang pour beside imports from New Zealand, Germany and Belgium, with Japanese and Australian names too; NOW! Jakarta's guide mentions Hoegaarden Rosée, Sapporo and Little Creatures XPA, the last a regular monthly favourite. Dedicated lines serve Negroni, Bubble Bath and Golden Berry cocktails on tap, alongside other pre-batched drinks that keep service quick on busy nights.

The food is upscale pub fare built for drinking. Order the crispy pork rice with sambal matah (nasi babi garing), a signature since opening, or share the wood-fired pizza, super nachos or salted egg chips across the long communal tables.

Find it at SCBD Lot 19, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 52–53. Bands play from around 9pm Thursday to Saturday, so come earlier for a quieter pint, and weekends have also brought its Athletic Weekend sports series. Listings show opening from late morning with late closing, into the small hours later in the week, while Sunday hours vary between sources, so check before a Sunday visit. Book the private room for groups by contacting the venue directly, as it doesn't take reservations through Chope.
