Tucked inside the East Mall of Grand Indonesia, Paulaner Bräuhaus Jakarta holds a unique distinction: it is the only microbrewery restaurant in Indonesia. For decades it has been the city's benchmark for German-style brewing, run under licence from the legendary Paulaner Brauerei München and operated by Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta.
The brewing programme is the centrepiece. All beers are crafted on-site by a resident brewmaster using ingredients imported directly from Germany, following Paulaner's centuries-old recipes. The core range runs from the crisp, golden Hell (Lager) to the deep, malty Dunkel (Dark Beer) and the classic Weißbier (Wheat Beer). Glasses are served in authentic Bavarian measure — 0.3L, 0.5L, and 1L steins — and the seasonal Radler and fruit beer variants add a lighter, refreshing option for the heat of Jakarta.
The dining room channels a classic Bavarian beer hall: rich dark timber panelling, ornate pendant lighting, Bavarian folk art on the walls, and a welcoming 200-seat capacity that accommodates both intimate dinners and large group gatherings. Live music adds to the atmosphere on most evenings, and the venue hosts Jakarta's most established Oktoberfest celebration each September and October, drawing hundreds of guests for traditional Bavarian food, flowing beer, and live entertainment.
The kitchen delivers the full canon of Munich pub food — pork knuckle, sausage platters, beef goulash, Weißwurst — executed to an unusually high standard for Jakarta. Panoramic city views from the lounge and big-screen sports broadcasts round out the offer, making Paulaner Bräuhaus as natural a choice for a casual Friday pint as for a formal company dinner.
