Kyoto Beer Lab

Run by Chabeer Brewing and pouring since 2018, Kyoto Beer Lab made its name with tea-infused beers brewed with leaf from Wazuka, the tea-growing town south of the city: a Shaded Tea White Ale, a Deep Steamed Green Tea IPA and a Roasted Tea Stout among them. The glassware carries the frogs, rabbits and monkeys of the Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga scrolls, used with permission from Kōzan-ji temple, and the brewing kit sits right behind the counter.

It is a short walk from Keihan Shichijo Station and an easy first stop on a Kyoto Station beer crawl. You order and pay at the register, so start with a couple of the tea beers before moving on to the guest taps.
