Y. Market Brewing is the brewery that put Nagoya on Japan's craft beer map. Founded in 2014 by the Okadaya Liquors group in the historic Yanagibashi Market district near Nagoya Station, it holds the distinction of being the city's first and only urban microbrewery — brewing everything on-site on the ground floor, with the taproom restaurant occupying the second floor directly above. The name is a nod to the Yanagibashi Market (Y. Market) that surrounds the building, and the beers reflect the same local pride. The core range spans a wide range of styles — hazy IPAs, lagers, wheats, pale ales, stouts, and rotating seasonals — all brewed in-house and served at their freshest. The English menu makes navigating the full range accessible to non-Japanese speakers, and the knowledgeable staff are happy to recommend based on your preferences. Around 10 beers are available on draft at any time. The kitchen serves western-style food designed to pair with the beers: rotisserie chicken cooked in a special oven, spicy Nagoya-style fried chicken wings, and pub classics. The stylish wood-grain interior seats up to 65 for private parties. Daytime drinking is welcomed — the bar opens at 11:30am on weekends and holidays. Y. Market also operates several affiliated venues across Nagoya, including Keg Nagoya in Sakae.
