Ukishima brews in small batches a few metres from the bar and pours nothing but its own beer, with the line-up rotating through the seasons. Look out for the island-ingredient brews: Kudaka Island Weizen uses barley from the island Okinawans call the island of the gods, and Nakandakari Wheat X uses heirloom rice from the village where Okinawan rice farming began.
The entrance is easy to miss among the market stalls of Ukishima-dori: look for the yellow pillar with the Ukishima logo and take the stairs up. Start with a three-beer tasting flight and pair it with the Portuguese-style octopus rice.
