Susukino Yell Stand is the direct taproom of SUSUKINO BREWING, a microbrewery founded in Sapporo's Chuo-ku in 2022 with an unusually specific mission: to brew a beer for Susukino itself. The company's slogan translates roughly as "first, become the joy of this town," and the beer carries the neighbourhood's name โ€” Susukino Yell (ใ™ใ™ใใฎใˆใƒผใ‚‹).

The brewery's route here was not a straight line. Operating under APR Trading, the team began by having beer contract-brewed before securing its own production licence in June 2022 and pouring its first self-brewed batch that August. A taproom attached to the brewery on Minami 7-jo Nishi 3-chome ran from 2022 until it closed in June 2024 to make room for expanded brewing capacity. Susukino Yell Stand, opened on 30 November 2023, is now the brand's only bar.

The format is a stand โ€” a compact counter operation on the basement level of COCONO SUSUKINO, the eighteen-storey complex that replaced Susukino Rafila on the famous Nikka Whisky crossing. Six taps sit behind the counter, pouring the core Susukino Yell range alongside seasonal one-offs: white ale, saison, session IPA, weizen, Scottish ale, porter, oatmeal stout, ESB, Italian pilsner and a rotating cast of IPAs. The malt is German, the hops a mix of American, Czech and Japanese โ€” the last of these grown in Kamifurano, up in central Hokkaido โ€” and the brewing water is Sapporo's own.

Alongside the draught there is a fridge of cans for takeaway, covering both Susukino Yell's own releases and a well-chosen selection of guest beers from breweries across Hokkaido, which makes this one of the more useful stops in central Sapporo for anyone trying to sample the wider prefectural scene. Snacks are made to match what is on tap.

Opening at 10am and running through to 9pm with no fixed closing day, this is a genuine daytime drinking option in a district otherwise built for the small hours. It sits directly above Susukino Station on the Namboku subway line, connected via exit 5.
