Beer Club Popeye

Founded as a Western-style izakaya, Popeye pivoted to craft beer a decade later and helped put Japanese craft on the map. Yuzu IPAs, smoked porters, farmhouse ales and barrel-aged stouts rotate with barely a repeat, and a dedicated cellarman team manages each keg's gas pressure, temperature, glassware and pour to serve every beer at its peak.

It's a three-minute walk from Ryogoku Station. Order the 10-beer tasting flight (around ¥3,000) to cover the breadth, with izakaya dishes alongside, in a lived-in, no-frills room.
