Craft Beer Market Jimbocho was the second outlet to open in the chain, arriving in 2012 to serve the office workers and book hunters of Kanda-Jimbocho — one of Tokyo's most characterful neighbourhoods, famous for its dense concentration of second-hand bookshops and print shops.
The bar sits in the OB Jimbocho Building on Kanda-Jimbocho 2-chome, with a glazed shopfront opening onto a pavement terrace that becomes especially lively in the warmer months. Inside, seating runs to around 40, spread across counter stools and wooden tables. Like all branches of the chain, the tap wall runs to 30 lines — roughly 27 craft and 3 macro — rotating daily through Japanese microbreweries with imports making regular appearances.
The signature food concept at Jimbocho is roast chicken, which makes for a better-than-average beer snack compared to some of the chain's other branches. Prices follow the standard CBM structure: glass from ¥690, US pint from ¥880, with a ¥300 table charge. An all-you-can-drink plan is available.
Jimbocho is one of the more relaxed CBM locations — the neighbourhood draws a diverse crowd of students, academics, and office workers rather than the intense salaryman rush that defines some other branches.
