Corebeer Brewhouse is Vientiane's most established craft brewery and one of the pioneering names in Laos's small but genuine craft beer scene. Operating since 2015, Corebeer has spent a decade making its own beers in-house and introducing craft beer culture to a city that was long defined by a single dominant lager. The result is a tap list that spans styles far beyond what most of the Mekong region has to offer: expect pilsners, wheat beers, West Coast IPAs, hazy NEIPAs, coffee stouts, pale ales, and seasonal collaborations, all brewed on-site and poured fresh at the bar.
The brewhouse sits on Khouvieng Road in the Sisattanak District, not far from the COPE Visitor Centre β one of the most moving and important museums in Vientiane. The venue opens from early evening and draws a mix of expats, backpackers, and local regulars who have adopted it as their neighbourhood bar. Live music is a regular feature, and the atmosphere is reliably relaxed: good beer, attentive service, and none of the self-consciousness that sometimes accompanies the craft beer scene in larger cities.
Signature beers include the Corrupt As F! IPA, the Mekong West Coast IPA, the Beard Man Weizen, the Black Hole Coffee Stout, and the Emperor KΓΆlsch β a range wide enough to satisfy most palates and representative of a brewery that has been quietly improving its craft for a decade without the fanfare it probably deserves. For any beer traveller passing through Vientiane, Corebeer is the essential stop.
