Monster At Penang

Monster At Penang is a craft beer bar in D'Piazza Mall on Jalan Mahsuri, Bandar Bayan Baru, in the Bayan Lepas area of southern Penang Island, not far from Penang International Airport. It opened in May 2026 and, according to Beer Asia's Northern Malaysia guide, is the first craft beer bar to set up shop in the south of the island, well away from the existing craft beer spots in George Town and Tanjung Bungah.

The bar is an outpost of Monster And Beer, the Malaysian craft beer name whose original restaurant is in Taman Paramount, Petaling Jaya. All six beers in the Monster And Beer range are poured on tap here and also sold in cans. The house beers have included M&B Jom! Lager, a light, easy-drinking lager, and Syok! IPA, which The Edge described in 2025 as a robust IPA with tropical notes.

Guest beers come mainly in cans and bottles. Beer Asia lists canned beers from Vocation and Boatrocker, plus a separate fridge of Belgian bottles from St. Feuillien, Circus and Petrus. That gives a straightforward choice between the house lager and IPA on draught and stronger Belgian ales or imported hop-forward beers from the fridge.

The guide lists opening hours of 3pm to 11pm every day. Being in a suburban mall rather than the heritage centre, it suits people living or working around Bayan Baru and Bayan Lepas, as well as travellers with a few hours to spare before a flight.
