Elias Wicked Ales & Spirits brews on Ubay Street in Santa Mesa Heights, Quezon City, and its brewery taproom there is the home base of the independent brewery. The site grew out of 13 Ubay Street Comfort Dining, a restaurant that opened in 2015 and took on the Elias beers, and Tatler has described the taproom as solar-powered.
The range on tap is unusually wide. The brewery's own listing gives more than 30 craft beers, hard ciders, hard seltzers and mead on tap, all made in-house, and the current boards are published on its website and Untappd. Beers reviewers mention include Pilyo IPA, Bad Blonde and Dark Vader stout, while the ciders include a Mango Hard Cider and a guava cider called Pwede. Staff are regularly praised for explaining styles, and some reviewers have asked for smaller tasting glasses so they can work through more of the list.
Food is pulutan with a twist: Wicked Sisig, Crispy Bagnet Belly, Mushroom Tempura and Nacho Supreme are on the menu, and reviewers also mention chicken inasal and twice-cooked ribs. The room has a homely feel, though reviewers note it can get warm on busy evenings.
The taproom opens from 5pm to 1am Sunday to Thursday and from 3pm to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays. Private events can be booked, and the brewery's Craft Cruiser service supplies kegs of its beers, ciders, seltzers and mead for parties. Elias also runs taprooms in Alabang and in BGC, the latter in partnership with Apartment 1B on 30th Street.
It suits drinkers who want to taste a large slice of one Filipino brewery's output in a single sitting.
