Freebird (Stanley Street)

Unclaimed
The CBD outpost of Katong craft beer bar Freebird, on the shophouse stretch of Stanley Street in Telok Ayer. Expect the same formula that made the original work: a rotating tap list leaning on hard-to-find imports and local brews, Asian fusion bar food, and highballs, in a walkable spot between Chinatown and the Cecil Street office towers.

Freebird opened in 2021 in the basement of Katong Shopping Centre and built a following on rotating taps, knowledgeable service and a fusion food menu that goes well beyond standard bar snacks. Stanley Street is its second outlet, bringing the same approach into the CBD on a conserved shophouse row a short walk from Telok Ayer and Tanjong Pagar MRT.

The tap list rotates constantly, with the team known for pouring sought-after imports alongside Singapore breweries — IPAs, stouts and sours all feature regularly at the original, with cans filling the gaps. Food follows the Freebird house style of Asian-inflected bar plates, and highballs round out the drinks list for anyone not on beer.

This is a new opening, so the tap count and menu at Stanley Street are still settling in. Opening hours currently run from late morning through midnight Monday to Saturday, with the bar closed on Sundays — worth confirming directly before a special trip.
