Komuniti Cats

Now open. Komuniti Cats is the newest bar from the group behind two of Singapore's most loved independent craft beer spots: Locality Craft Beers, the basement bar in Hexacube on Changi Road run by owner Dennis, and AfterJourney, the hidden taproom in Textile Centre on Jalan Sultan. The team describes the new venue as the best of both bars in one place, bringing the same community spirit to the city centre.

The name is a tribute to the famous cat that lives at Locality, a fixture of the bar and a favourite with its regulars, and a nod to Singapore's much-loved community cats. The new venue wears the theme proudly: its illuminated signage is a giant retro cassette tape complete with paw prints.

Komuniti Cats occupies unit #01-13E at Esplanade Annexe, next to Esplanade Mall and a short walk from Esplanade and City Hall MRT stations. There is outdoor seating under the covered walkway out front with views towards the water, which makes it a great spot for a drink before or after a show at Esplanade or a stroll along Marina Bay.

With 20 taps, it is the biggest bar in the group so far. Expect a strong focus on local craft beer from Singapore's independent breweries, and given AfterJourney's track record, likely some beers from China and elsewhere in the region too. The team has also announced that its food shop licence has been granted, so expect food to join the offering soon.
