Picotin Brewhaus

Picotin Brewhaus is the craft beer arm of the Picotin restaurant group, the people behind Picotin Waterboat House, Picotin Katong and Picotin Fairways, and The Rochester is one of its two Brewhaus outlets, alongside Asia Square in the CBD. The beers are handcrafted at Picotin's own facilities in Singapore using traditional German methods, and they are served unpasteurised and without double filtration, so they still carry live yeast. Rather than standard kegs, every outlet pours from built-in tank taps kept at a constant temperature, which the brewery says keeps the beer fresh and natural. Expect a rotating line-up of house-brewed styles.

The food is a solidly executed Western and gastropub menu of familiar comfort dishes, and the deck seating, with a view towards the one-north and Buona Vista skyline, makes it as much a sundowner spot as a beer destination. The crowd skews towards after-work groups from the surrounding offices and weekend diners rather than hardcore beer geeks, and the group takes bookings for events and private parties.
