Goose Island Brewhouse

Goose Island's Seoul Brewhouse opened in late 2016 at 118 Yeoksam-ro in Gangnam: a striking glass-fronted building with visible brewing equipment, a ground-floor taproom, an upper-level dining space and a rooftop terrace. It's the AB InBev-owned Chicago brand's dedicated Korean brewing outpost, producing beers exclusive to this location alongside its familiar core range.

The house beer brewed here was sold only at this site (and, for a time, at a sister pub in Ikseon-dong), and the Seoul team developed the Duck Duck Goose recipe that went on to become a house beer. These sit beside Goose IPA, Golden Goose ale and the Belgian-style Sofie, with bottles of Bourbon County Brand Stout for special occasions and drafts from sister brands such as Elysian and Blue Point appearing at times. Reviewers note you can choose your pour size.

The kitchen was built around beer and food pairing. Recent menus run to Chicago-style pizzas, a Chicago BBQ platter, brisket and beef rib plates, buffalo wings, fish and chips and boiling shrimp, with pasta and rice bowls at lunch.

Expect a polished, high-volume bar experience rather than an intimate taproom, comfortable for groups, with a reservation-only barrel room, a private room and an outdoor patio. Parking is available, and it opens from 11.30am, so it works for a weekday lunch as well as an evening session. It suits after-work Gangnam groups, visitors who want a familiar name, and anyone curious to try Seoul-only Goose Island beers.
