Floating Taipei (漂浮台北) opened in 2021 on Nanjing West Road near Dihua Street and has quickly become one of the most consistently recommended beer bars in the city. Eighteen taps rotate through Taiwanese and imported craft, backed by a bottle and can list running to around a hundred.
The room has a personality that sets it apart from the city's more austere tasting rooms: baseball memorabilia on the walls, superhero figures on the shelves, and cartoons — Mr Bean is a house favourite — playing silently on the screens while the tap list turns over. It reads as a collector's living room rather than a bar concept.
The cocktail programme is worth attention too, built on Taiwanese ingredients rather than imported syrups. Minimum spend is around NT$500. It runs late — to 1:30am most nights and 2:30am on Saturdays — which makes it one of the better last stops in Dadaocheng.
