Hit Cat Brewing (打貓酒廠) is an unusual proposition: a Taiwanese craft brand whose beer is contract-brewed in Australia's Barossa Valley, where it also acts as the exclusive representative for Barossa Valley Brewing. Its brewery base is in Chiayi, and the Taipei taproom is its main showcase.
The venue sits on the ground floor of the Breeze Center on Fuxing South Road in Songshan, with around twenty-five taps. Opening at 11am makes it one of the very few places in Taipei to drink good beer in daylight, and the outdoor seating is a genuine rarity for a mall-adjacent venue.
Food is proper bar fare rather than an afterthought — popcorn chicken and waffle fries around NT$180, sandwiches around NT$280 — and pours start at roughly NT$200. It is an easy stop between shopping and dinner, and the Australian angle gives the tap list a character you will not find elsewhere in the city.
