Taihu Brewing – Dongmen

Founded in 2013, Taihu Brewing has matured into the most widely recognised craft brewery in Taiwan — a brand synonymous with quality, innovation, and a distinctly local identity. Its beers are brewed with Taiwanese ingredients and sensibilities in mind: a Peach Weisse that has won multiple international medals, a lychee gose, a smoked pork porter, and an ever-expanding programme of seasonal and experimental releases. The Dongmen taproom, known as the Izakaya, is housed in a beautifully designed standalone building that references traditional Japanese wooden architecture — a nod to Taiwan's colonial brewing history. Paper lanterns hang above the entrance, sliding screens frame the bar, and the warm interior glow draws drinkers in off the street. Twenty-four taps pour the full Taihu range alongside a small selection of guest beers. The food menu is designed for serious beer pairing: small plates, yakitori, and heavier pub fare that complement the broad range of styles on tap.
