TimeBeer is one of the more unlikely craft beer venues in Asia: a shop-bar operating inside Raohe Street Night Market, one of Taipei's most-visited food markets, marked by a large neon "Time Beer" sign among the food stalls.
The offer is a small draught selection — Taihu and Tsai's Actual among the regulars — backed by a heavily can and bottle-led fridge running Taiwanese and imported craft. Three cans for NT$500 is the standing deal, and most people drink standing or perched, street-facing, rather than settling in.
There is no kitchen and no need for one. The whole point is that Raohe's pepper buns, stinky tofu and grilled skewers are within arm's reach, and TimeBeer solves the problem of what to drink with them beyond the market's usual macro lager. For visitors, it is the easiest way to fold craft beer into a night market itinerary.
