Zhang Men Brewing – Yongkang

Zhang Men Brewing opened its first Taipei taproom on Yongkang Street in 2015, a year after establishing its production brewery in the Xizhi district of New Taipei City. The street-level bar quickly became a neighbourhood institution in Da'an District — an area better known for beef noodle soup and traditional teahouses than craft beer — and helped anchor Taipei's early brewpub scene. The taproom is unmistakable at night: a backlit Zhang Men logo glows above an open street frontage where bar stools spill out onto the pavement. Inside, 24 or more taps run a constantly rotating programme of Zhang Men's own brews alongside a curated selection of international craft beers, primarily sourced from Hong Kong. The range spans the spectrum: approachable pilsners and wheat beers for newcomers, alongside bold double IPAs, barrel-aged stouts, and experimental seasonal releases. Yongkang is one of the best craft beer streets in Taipei, and Zhang Men's original location is the natural first stop on any Taiwanese craft beer crawl. The vibe is casual, the staff knowledgeable, and the taps reliably excellent. Book-ended by excellent restaurants and teahouses, it is easy to spend an entire evening in this alley.
