BrewDog Ploenchit is the Scottish brewery's first bar in Thailand, opened in the Canvas Building on the south side of Phloen Chit Road, directly opposite Central Embassy and a short walk from BTS Ploen Chit. It is a proper flagship rather than a token franchise outpost: a double-height glass corner unit with the BrewDog wordmark lit up over the street, a mezzanine level upstairs, a small stage on the ground floor and a planted street-side terrace.
Sixteen taps pour BrewDog's own range as the backbone, from Punk IPA and Hazy Jane through lagers, coffee stouts and milkshake IPAs, with several lines kept back for guest beer from Thai and Southeast Asian breweries. Collaborations with local outfits such as Baan Bangkok and Sandport Beer have appeared on the wall, and the staff will pour tasters at the counter before you commit. The bar keeps its tap list live on Untappd. There is also a full spirit and wine list, which is not always the case at a taproom this beer-led.
The kitchen is BrewDog's international bar menu with local additions: wings, smashed burgers, pizzas, salads, large plates and a fish and chips that gets named repeatedly in reviews. Roughly half the food menu is vegetarian or vegan. Weekly deals run most nights of the week, including two-for-one pizzas on Mondays, unlimited wings on Wednesdays, a free beer tower with two on Thursdays, and discounted tap beer on Saturdays.
Live music is central to the format. Bands and DJs play through the week and jazz runs Wednesday to Saturday from about 7.30pm, which makes the ground floor genuinely loud on weekend nights. Head upstairs if you want to hold a conversation. Sport goes on the screens, the terrace fills early with the Phloen Chit after-work crowd, and dogs are welcome throughout. Prices sit at the higher end for Bangkok, in line with the location.
