Burbrit Craft Beer (Sukhumvit 22)

Burbrit is Myanmar's first craft beer brand, founded in 2016 by three Burmese partners and one British one — the name fuses "Burmese" and "British" — after the founders discovered craft beer while living in Singapore in the late 1990s. Beer is brewed at their own brewery in the North Dagon Industrial Zone in Yangon using malt and hops from America, Europe and Oceania, and the range splits into three families: The Classics, American Inspired and the Unique Series. The Sukhumvit 22 taproom, opened in 2023, was Burbrit's first venue outside Myanmar and remains its only confirmed Thailand outlet, which makes it the easiest place in Bangkok to drink Burmese craft beer.

Twelve taps pour Burbrit alongside rotating guests. Ayeyarwady IPA is the signature; regulars include the banana-and-citrus Padaung Weizen, Golden Ale, Kinky Love IPA, Double Black Stout and Black Coffee Stout. The venue occupies a ground-floor unit at the Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit and splits into an air-conditioned indoor dining room and a large open-air courtyard beer garden. Sport is a serious part of the offer: two outdoor screens, one indoor, and a projector in the courtyard, with live music on occasion.

The kitchen runs Western pub classics — burgers, pizzas, wings, barbecue spare ribs, fish and chips, steaks, duck confit, nachos, pork belly and pork neck — with a short Burmese section that sets it apart from the rest of Bangkok's beer bars, including fermented tea-leaf salad and spicy Myanmar sausage. Expect draught around ฿180–290 a glass and mains ฿400–500, plus service and VAT. Google reviewers rate it exceptionally highly. Happy-hour specials on selected drinks run until 8pm, though the terms are not published — worth confirming on arrival.

Programming is unusually active for a taproom: Brew Day demonstrations, monthly "Meet the Brewer" collaborations with Thai home brewers, and periodic craft beer festivals with local Thai breweries. Getting there is easy — roughly 650m from BTS Asok and 750m from BTS Phrom Phong, with MRT Sukhumvit close by and Terminal 21 a short walk. Hotel parking is adjacent.

Note that Burbrit's former Ekkamai outlet has closed. A second Bangkok venue opened at Summer Hub on Phra Khanong in May 2025, but the brand's own site no longer lists it, so Sukhumvit 22 is the location to plan around.
