Lucky to be Alive is the craft beer heart of Fisherman's Village in Bophut β€” a compact, hole-in-the-wall taproom that puts a proper pint ahead of the mass-produced lagers found everywhere else on the island. It's air-conditioned inside (a genuine relief in the Samui heat) with a handful of tables spilling out onto the village's live-music square, where food stalls and buskers keep the atmosphere going every night.

The tap wall runs to around 7 constantly-rotating lines drawn almost entirely from Thai microbreweries, backed by a fridge packed with cans and bottles β€” hazy IPAs, pale ales and sours turn over so fast that regulars find an entirely different line-up from one night to the next. The owner and staff know the beers inside out and are happy to talk you through Thailand's craft scene and pour tasters before you commit. There's a wine bar next door for non-beer drinkers in the group.

It's not cheap by Thai-beer standards, but nobody comes here for Chang prices β€” they come for fresh, well-kept craft you can't get anywhere else in Fisherman's Village. Widely rated the best craft beer stop on Koh Samui.
