Small Saigon brewery started in 2015 by four friends, named after the pangolin and known for its unfiltered White Ale and Electric IPA.
Te Te Brewing (Te Te Craft Beer) is a small Saigon brewery started by four friends from a marketing agency, Tobias from Malta, Mike Rowland from the US and the Spanish brothers Luis and Ruben Martinez, with Luis, a biochemist, as brewer. Its first beer, a Belgian-style White Ale, appeared in late 2015. "Te te" is Vietnamese for pangolin, the endangered animal on the label, and is also slang for feeling a little lifted after a drink or two. The beer is unfiltered and unpasteurised, and the brewery is based in Da Kao, District 1. By 2018 it was in more than 80 venues around Saigon, including the city's main beer bars, and in bottles at Circle K, with distribution growing to Hanoi, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang and Da Lat.
The beers
White Ale, Belgian-style witbier with orange peel and coriander, 5.5%
Electric IPA, session IPA with American and Kiwi hops and lemon zest, 5.8%
Mellow Red, Irish-style red ale with cinnamon and nutmeg, 5.2%
Serious IPA, West Coast IPA, 6.7%
Juicy Peach Ale, fruit beer, 4.2%
Other beers have included So Co La Porter with Belvie cacao, Kloudy and Hoppy Kolsch, a Belgian tripel, Izy Lager, a longan honey mead and a hard kombucha. The White Ale and Juicy Peach Ale are sold in swing-top bottles.
Where to drink it
The brewery once ran a taphouse on Nguyen Van Thu in Da Kao, but there is no sign of it trading recently, so look for Te Te in other bars. Its beers are drunk in Saigon at places such as 3B Bar and Rice Market, and in Hoi An and Hanoi. In Hanoi it is on draught at Standing Bar at 170 Tran Vu, where White Ale and Electric IPA have both been poured in 2026. It is listed below.
