Orh Gao Taproom is one of Singapore's most quietly iconic craft beer bars. The name comes from the Hokkien kopitiam slang for stout beer, and the bar leans fully into its local heritage — the space doubles as Peh Gao Coffeeshop by day (kaya toast, kopi, pho, nasi lemak) before transforming into a craft beer taproom from early evening onwards.\n\nThe 14 rotating taps showcase the best of Singapore's independent craft scene — Brewlander, That Singapore Beer Project, Daryl's Urban Ales — alongside regional breweries from Vietnam, the UK, and beyond, including exclusive beers imported directly and not available anywhere else in Singapore. The list changes weekly.\n\nThe bar food goes well beyond typical snacks: the OG Sambal Curry Mussels and har cheong gai (shrimp paste chicken) have become cult items, alongside beef rendang, crunchy chicken cartilage, and Asian-inflected specials that pair thoughtfully with the beers. Sheltered outdoor seating is available, and the laid-back neighbourhood setting near the Botanic Gardens gives it a genuinely local feel.\n\nNote: Orh Gao reopened in March 2026 at a new unit within Serene Centre (#01-06), with partner daytime concept Peh Gao Coffeeshop now also operating from the same space.
