The Cider Pit is a rustic, open-air English pub tucked into a Joo Chiat shophouse courtyard, owned by the team behind East of Avalon Wines, a longtime British beer, cider, and wine wholesaler further up the same road. Behind its black-and-gold signboard is simple decor of wooden tables and red-painted timber frames, with both smoking and non-smoking sections under parasol cover.
True to its name, the drinks list leans hard into English cider β Aspall, Westons, Taunton, Saltaire, and Brothers all make an appearance on tap and in the fridge, alongside a rotating pick of British and European beers. The house Snakebite, a cider-and-lager mix served by the pint or the litre, is a regular order, and the kitchen keeps things simple with pork-forward pub grub: bangers and mash, pork cutlets, fish and chips, and sharing platters.
No GST or service charge is added to the bill, keeping it one of the more affordable drink-led nights out in the neighbourhood.
