UB3 Bistro sits in a light-industrial pocket of Ubi, away from the usual dining areas, and lives up to its tagline "You Be Free" with a relaxed, jovial vibe that is a world away from its surroundings. Time Out describes the room as contemporary with a cool, trendy feel, and it draws an after-work crowd from the surrounding industrial estate despite being genuinely off the beaten track.

Twelve taps pour a rotating line-up of mostly Asian craft beer, backed by a solid wine and spirits list. That regional focus makes it a good place to try beers from around Asia that rarely appear on Singapore's bigger tap walls, and the rotation means the board changes between visits.

The kitchen leans into Creole and Cajun cooking shaped by French, African, Chinese and Indian influences. Dishes have included char-grilled baby octopus salad, creole crab cake in brioche, hand-pulled duck curry with coconut burrata, grilled pimentos, a Colossal Blooming Onion for sharing and baked pies, which makes it as much a dinner destination as a beer stop.

There is ample covered outdoor seating plus free on-site parking at 51 Ubi Avenue 3. Opening hours vary through the week: Time Out lists dinner from 5pm to 10.30pm every day except Sunday, with lunch from 11.30am to 2.30pm added from Wednesday to Saturday, and the bistro is closed on Sundays. Check before heading over for lunch early in the week.
