Magpie Brewing Company was founded in Seoul in 2011 and moved production to Jeju Island in 2016, converting a tangerine warehouse in Hocheon-dong into a full-scale production brewery. Every drop of Magpie beer sold across Korea — and exported to the USA, Hong Kong, and Thailand — is brewed here, using Jeju's clean basalt-filtered water.
The open-air taproom adjoins the brewery building, with large sliding glass doors, outdoor picnic tables on a lava-gravel terrace, and a relaxed, breezy atmosphere that makes it one of the most pleasant places to drink beer anywhere on the island. The full core range is always on tap — Pale Ale (4.8%), IPA (6.5%), Kölsch (4.8%), Porter (5.6%) — alongside rotating seasonal and experimental releases that are often exclusive to the taproom. Award-winning beers include The Ghost, a tangerine gose that won Champion Beer of Asia at SEA Brew 2019.
Brewery tours run on weekends (advance booking recommended) and take 30–40 minutes, covering the full brewing process from grain to glass. The tour concludes with a tasting at the taproom. Pizza is also available. The location is a short taxi ride from central Jeju City — around ₩10,000–15,000 each way — or accessible by car. The first Wednesday of each month the taproom closes early at 5pm.
