Taiwan craft beer brand from the Le Ble d'Or group, one of the first private breweries after the beer monopoly ended, best known for its honey lager sold island-wide.
SUNMAI (in Chinese, Jin Se San Mai) is the packaged craft beer brand of the Le Ble d'Or group, which Michael and Rico Yeh founded in 2004 as one of the first private brewers in Taiwan after the state beer monopoly ended. The brand says it brews on German equipment. Its signature honey beer, developed in 2008, is made with honey added to the boil, and the brand highlights the aroma of Taiwanese longan honey. That beer won the honey beer category at the 2014 World Beer Cup, and a SUNMAI wheat beer took gold at the European Beer Star in 2016. The range leans on local ingredients such as tea, osmanthus and fruit.
