Taipei craft beer company founded by American home brewers in 2014, brewing in Taiwan and pouring its pale ales, IPAs and sours at its two taprooms and at bars across the city.
23 Brewing Company (sometimes listed as TW 23 Brewing) was founded by Brett Tieman and Matt Frazar, Americans living in Taipei who met through the city's home-brewing community; they told Taiwan Scene the company dates from 2014. A 2016 Taipei Times report described Tieman overseeing production at a contract brewery in Hsinchu, since breweries in Taiwan must sit in industrial zones. The No. 1 Pale Ale was the first release, and the company has long sold to bars and restaurants around Taiwan as well as through its own taprooms.
